WHO WE ARE

CLOTH HALL specializes in discovering unique textile and wallcovering collections, unavailable elsewhere in the Canadian market.

Every collection we represent is dedicated to preserving time-honoured, hand-crafted practices, combining the latest

innovations to weave together stories and inspirations from all over the world.

We understand the importance of creating spaces with distinct narratives and work closely with clients, interior designers, and artisans to co-create bespoke solutions that reflect the individuality and vision of each project.

THE TEAM

Sarah Lowry is the driving force behind CLOTH HALL. Her dedication to fine craftsmanship can be traced back to childhood summer vacations spent on the shores of Georgian Bay where she enjoyed month-long periods at her grandmother's side drawing, painting, and creating artwork inspired by the surrounding landscape. After dabbling in photography, Sarah commenced formal studies at OCAD University in Toronto, where she was awarded the Governor General's Academic Medal for her work in woven textiles.

Sarah brings to CLOTH HALL a 20+ year career in design and product development for a number Canadian brands and retailers and her creative leadership roles within various home textile and decor categories have taken her all over the world to work directly with manufacturers in their production facilities. It was on these trips abroad, working alongside the talented craftspeople she met, that Sarah felt most connected.

During her own home renovation, Sarah identified an opportunity to serve the Toronto interior design community by shining a spotlight on artisan textiles and wallcoverings. In the fall of 2024 CLOTH HALL came to fruition.

OUR PURPOSE

From the Middle Ages through the 18th century, cloth halls dotted every major town across Europe. Situated at the heart of bustling marketplaces, these halls served as hubs for trade, primarily dealing in textiles and prized handcrafted goods.

Functioning as pivotal centres of international commerce, where merchants convened to negotiate and exchange goods, cloth halls significantly influenced the economic and cultural development of their surrounding regions.

With the advent of the industrial revolution came transformative changes in the textile industry, marking the decline of the traditional cloth hall and the collaborative spirit it fostered among artisans and tradespeople.

At CLOTH HALL, we envision a modern interpretation of the cloth hall concept. We unite trade professionals with artists and craftspeople, facilitating the creation of bespoke spaces infused with noble materials, cultural connection, and deep emotional resonance.

OUR VALUES

MADE IN CANADA

CLOTH HALL is committed to representing Canadian designers and craftspeople along side their international contemporaries. We are on the constant lookout for Canadian brands to join our ever growing collection of textiles and wallcoverings.

SUSTAINABILITY

CLOTH HALL shines a spotlight on independent, small-batch, and made-to-order brands. Our represented lines are dedicated to lowering their impact on the environment by reducing the amount of product they produce and by using conscientious production methods, materials, and packaging. Our commitment to quality craftsmanship ensures our products endure the test of time, being diverted from landfill by becoming well-loved, heirloom pieces.
